Ch-ch-ch-changes

Since I have been writing more and more about comics and the collecting of comics lately, I have been thinking about expanding this here blog. With a catalogue. A catalogue of my ever expanding collection of comics. Not only for bragging and boasting. ( Well, ok, some bragging involved, true.) It's for reference as well. When one starts the nasty habit of collecting, one tends to forget what one has already in his collection. I'm not talking about that ever so hard to find super rare comic, but some of the more mundane series. Often they'll have confusing nummerotations and parallel series. And for the love of god, who can keep track of the ever changing career choices of artists and writers? Therefor, a catalogue. A tool for me, an extra for you.

I also intend to review once in a while a comic, just for fun. But only when I believe I have something to say on the subject.

Does this mean the end of the cartoons? No. Hell no. Let me put it this way; the cartoons are a certainty, the comics are dependable of my mood and time.

So, when I'm finished constructing my virtual library (with thanks to Occy for his advice in the matter) you will be able to browse through them. But be careful, don't break any softcover-spines, and leave alone the dedicated ones, and oooh, don't this and aaah don't that...

glad to read it (it'll be good to know there's other Catalogians out there - we'll not be driven of the Path we were Chosen for, no ma'am!), and I'm curious as to how you will tackle this mission

one more advice: whatever tool you use, make some sort of back-up (& preferably in an easy to copy&paste or importable format)! the number of times I had to start over again, becoz my computer crashed or becoz my brain grew larger, equals the number of days in february...

Well, I foresaw crashes and so on, so I opted for Librarything. As long it isn't translated in Dutch it goes automatically. Too bad 70 per cent of my collection is in Dutch.

Good idea! Might give me some inspiration for titles I still have to read :-)

Thanks, dork universalis, although I still have a lot of them to enter in the database. Right now, re-reading the old Biebels and laughing my frickin' head off!

librarything works for dutch books too, in the add books section you just have to select a different library (default is library of congress or amazon) - koninklijke bibliotheek nederland or koninklijke bibliotheek v belgie, for instance

yeah, I know. But I prefer to upload them manually and extract my covers from zilverendolfijn.nl

130 comics already uploaded and still going strong.
